Overview
A house in Goa, planned for a coast that takes upwards of 2,500 mm of
rain a year and stays humid the rest of it. The scheme leans on the
Goan vernacular for good reason — a deep covered verandah as the
primary living edge, a sloped roof that sheds fast, and laterite and
lime handling the wet without needing to be sealed against it. Rooms
are shallow in plan so air moves through rather than around, and the
house is oriented to catch the sea breeze before it catches the
afternoon sun.
